GL provides over 200 customers (incl. Universal Printing, Screenline and Pak2000) and 7 distributors (incl. Rexx Chemicals, X-Press Graph-X and Screenmore) with a wide range of screen ink products formulated to meet the demands of the South African printer.
Old favorites in the solvent-based range include Mirakal, Mono/Biocure, Corrogloss and Plastivac ink series, while more recently introduced products include the HT Vinyl series, inks for EVA and the trio -Prolon, Proflex & Polyflex (to cover the diverse needs of the nylon luggage market).
Since GL’s formation we have introduced many of the NAZDAR UV series covering both the poly bottle printers and the flat sheet graphics market. Two recent introductions are the 1200 Series (a unique single pack system for Correx) and the 1600 Series (a very economically priced multi-substrate ink for the indoor & short term outdoor POP market). Recently launched was the 1800 PowerPrint (tm) Plus multi purpose UV ink - Contact Julie at GL Durban for more info.
A significant amount of the woven polypropylene sack market is printed with letterpress inks and GL is able to successfully compete with inks imported from Taiwan.
The use of UV inks in South Africa started later than in USA & Europe but is now growing rapidly. GL Managing Director, Gordon Lucy, firmly believes that as more and more printers come to appreciate the benefits that UV technology offers, the rate of change will accelerate and he is confident that in 2 to 3 years time, GL will be at the same level as NAZDAR, with 50% of our ink sales being UV formulations alone.
In response to customer requests GL began test marketing of squeegee from Pleiger. This has been well accepted and we are expanding the marketing of this product.
GL is proud to introduce two new products: The IMAGE STAR range of environmentally friendly press room chemicals from NAZDAR and TAMPO PRINTING INKS from Quimóvil.
